These paintings were inspired by a dream. I woke up with questions such as: What does a soul look like? Does each person’s soul look different? Do our life experiences shape our souls?
I was also inspired by the book “Larry’s Party” by Carol Shields. She wrote “His body is an upright walking labyrinth, and he feels the miracle of it. In his earlobe there are capillaries that connect to his heart. On the surface of his skin live nerves so sensitive that his brain knows the instant a microscopic insect lands on the back of his hand.”
I decided to paint what souls might look like spiraling, flowing, or floating inside someone's body.
